1732863 - Cannot select multiple event categories with space bar from categories drop-down menu

As I noticed in bug 1687444, when creating an Event or Task,
the “Categories” drop-down menu doesn’t use standard
check boxes; as a result, trying to select categories with the
Space bar doesn’t work. You have to use Return instead,
which has the side effect of closing the menu (and thus
requiring you to open it again, e.g. with Alt-Down, before you
can select additional categories -- again only one-by-one).

Steps to reproduce:

• create an event (Alt-N then Return)
• open the Category menu (Tab twice then Alt-Down)
• hit the Down arrow a bunch of times and hit Space.

Actual Result

• nothing

Expected Result

• Select the selected category when pressing space bar
• Avoid closing the dropdown so that multiple categories may be easily selected
• Consider closing the dropdown with ESC key
