User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:94.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/94.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Start Firefox with wayland.
- Share screen (Here screenapp.io website is used as test) or present audio or video.
- Accept system dialog and select which screen/window to capture.
Actual results:
The sharing indicator that stays on top of screen on X11 session now pops out as a window and is also shown among all windows (present window in plasma). It has usual window controls maximize and close too.
Expected results:
Sharing indicator should stay on top of screen. Or as a system tray notification is available already, it might not be shown at all.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::WebRTC' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

This is front-end/UI related, not Core::WebRTC. I think site permissions may be a more appropriate component.

Yes KDE, this screenshot is from KDE neon. I can reproduce this issue on fedora 35 GNOME and KDE too.

In gnome though window decorations are missing, but probably this is because gnome doesn't decorate if client requests CSD iirc. GNOME 41, Fedora 35, firefox 94.

Finally this is due to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/issues/44 and hence not a Firefox bug. This MR https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/merge_requests/132 is the possible solution and it should come to wayland implementations for the bug to be fixed in actual.

I was also musing about different solutions in bug 1715986, but that would need more work on pipewire integration in WebRTC.
