Note

• When the user opens the browser with wayland window protocol, and attempts to install a random theme from addons.mozilla.org/, he will notice that the install confirmation pop-up is not be4ing displayed; the web content becomes somewhat unresponsive.

Affected versions

• Nightly v96.0a1

Affected platforms

• Ubuntu 21 + wayland

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch browser with wayland window manager:
   a. Go into the nightly folder.
   b. Right-click and "Open in Terminal".
   c. MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
   d. ./firefox
2. Load https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nicothin-space/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=rating
3. Click the "Install Theme" button.

Expected result

• The theme install confirmation pop-up ("THis site would like to install an add-on in Nightly") is properly displayed and usable.

Actual result

• The theme install confirmation pop-up ("THis site would like to install an add-on in Nightly") is not being displayed at all, the page seems somewhat unresponsive.

Regression range

• unknown.

Additional notes

• This issue occurs with "wayland" Window Protocol and not with "xwayland".

I'm unable to reproduce on Fedora 34, mutter-40.5 and any Firefox (94+).

Can't reproduce either - Bodea, is that on Ubuntu 21.04 or 21.10? In case of 21.04, can you update to 21.10 and retest?

Also tested with updated Ubuntu 21.10, but it is not reproducible anymore.
Considering the fact that a find-fix investigation is not possible, I've retested the build that I originally reported build and it no longer reproduces there either. Original cause is unknown; Closing as worksforme.
