Steps to reproduce:

Click on url bar to edit the url. Or click on the search field where i just want to add something to the search string.

Actual results:

Whole url is highlighted. This is unworkable because i need to edit the url many times a day.

Also adding something to a search input is very common and disturbed by highlighting everything at ones automatically.

Expected results:

Just set the cursor on the place where i click. Like every other input field in every computer science basic principle.

It's okay that other people like this click-selects-all behavior. But please make it optional so that power user not has a hassle to use Firefox in a more professional way.

How many people need to file bug reports for you to change 1 line of code to reenable this pref?

It makes me angry ever time i see someone pointing at this bad behavior and struggle with it. 1. because it once was just a preference for power users easy to find and secondly because i can imagine the people end up here are just the top of the iceberg for all those who are struggling with this stupid behavior.

And i get mostly angry because of the worthless argument used to remove this pref. "Hard to maintain", "All platforms the same". There are really a ton of examples that doesn't fit this argument.

I left this behind me because i use my own build where it was letterly 5 minutes to return this pref and cut off this stupid behavior.

You guys make a very bad decision with this and looks like you simple to shy to admit it. Just make it work again!
