The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.
Hi Mel,
I was unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 10, on Firefox Nightly 97.0a1 (2021-12-10) (64-bit) (64-bit) and Release 95.0 (64-bit) versions.
Thanks for providing your about:support, it could be useful.
Could you answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create a new profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode (Safe Mode disables add-ons, extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems). You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode.
-
Does this issue occur in the latest nightly version of firefox? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
-
Are you using any addons? If so, please list them. Please, can you go to Help -> More Troubleshooting Information and copy at least the "Add-ons" information into an attachment here?
If you are still able to reproduce it, please, share further information with us, like screenshots, screen recording, or more specific steps.
I let the assigned component in order to get the dev team involved.
'Firefox-Tabbed browser' team: if the component is not relevant please change it to a more appropriate one.
Regards,
Jerónimo

Hi Jerónimo,
I suspect this might be a linux-only issue so it doesn't surprise me you're unable to repro on win.
- It does happen with a new profile, this bug isn't something that I started seeing with firefox 95, it dates to earlier versions of firefox too.
Bug occurs intermittently and I am not willing to browse the web without an adblocker, for safety reasons, so I cannot help you w/running in safe mode. - For a while I was running nightly (on my old machine) and I saw the bug on it too there (back then nightly was v89)
- The addons I'm using are already listed in the about:support info I've provided
I'm afraid I don't know which browser component is relevant here, but like I said, I feel it would be good to involve linux people on this one.
I've encountered this bug with mutter, kwin and sway, both in wayland and x11 mode.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can provide you with.

Does the page fix if you scroll? Looks very much like bug 1742241.

Does this bug still occur? Can it be fixed by setting gfx.webrender.max-partial-present-rects to 0 on about:config and restarting Firefox? (bug 1747857)

It does. I'll try running the browser with gfx.webrender.max-partial-present-rects set to 0 and report back.

3 days later no broken rendering sighted with gfx.webrender.max-partial-present-rects set to 0. Conclusive?
