Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0

Steps to reproduce:

I opened a couple of websites that set cookies
Then i closed them and went somewhere else

Actual results:

The cookies stayed in the browsers memory until i closed firefox.

Expected results:

Instead of removing cookies from history when the browser shuts down, offer us the choice to immediately remove them when the associated tab no longer shows the page because we closed it or willingly entered a new website in the browser url bar.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Address Bar

Why don't you use private mode in such cases?

Component: Address Bar → Tabbed Browser

I'll set this to new so the engineering team could decide if they take in consideration changing this or not.

Why don't you use private mode in such cases?

A lot of websites break when you don't enable cookies and are easily fixed by temporarily allowing them to store data.
This shouldn't be limited to private mode to be userfriendly but also shouldn't allow tracking.
Completely disabling Advanced Tracking Protection for these pages isn't needed.
