Steps to reproduce:

Early 2020 Macbook Air (macbookair9,1) on MacOs Monterey 12.0.1, Intel core i5, 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD
FireFox 95.0.2
Add-ons: Save Working session 1.0.2, AdGuard Adblocker 3.6.13

Either after a fresh power on, or leaving on, Open firefox.
Go to a streaming site (Netflix, Hulu, Twitch, Youtube, etc...)
Stream a video for 20-30 minutes (unsure about actual timing but it doesn't take too long

Issue is only present using FireFox, not present on Safari or Chrome

Actual results:

CPU Temp rose quickly to 97-99C fluctuating from 93 to 99C
Fan speed rose dramatically to 8,000RPM and stays there consistently
Putting device to sleep stops the fans but they ramp up once device is woken up
"WindowServer" Process goes to 110-170% (Skylight.framework)
Video quality drops, freezes or errors out.
Significant Battery usage (30% in 40 minutes even after closing video)

Expected results:

The temps should have increased a small percentage, ~~ +30C to 70-80C with fans @ 2-3k RPM
"WindowServer" Process shouldn't be at 170% virtual CPU usage

Could you try gathering a Firefox profiler run using the ‘Media’ profiler preset? Once you have the profile run, could you use the share/upload button in the profiler then copy the link onto this bug?

In addition, could you post your about:support here? Also, does turning off gfx.core-animation.specialize-video help?
