Steps to reproduce:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/78.14.0
Facebook provides a public URL for upcoming events in iCAL/ICS format (sample URL: https://www.facebook.com/events/ical/upcoming/?uid=123&key=x90). I tried to subscribe (with offline support) to my personal Facebook calendar via corresponding URL.
Actual results:
A new calendar is created, but no calendar events are shown.
Expected results:
Calendar events should be shown just like events from other calendars.
After saving the Facebook generated ICS file (see attachment 'facebook_calendar.ics') from the aforementioned URL on the hard drive I tried two things, both successfully:
- Importing all the events therein into an existing calendar.
- Creating a "web" subscription to the calendar file via 'file://' protocol.
In both scenarios events are correctly displayed as part of the matching existing/new calendar.

So I took the time to test the same scenario in the latest generic Linux x64 version (91.4.1) and, unsurprisingly, it works well there.
I remember it working well in the last major Linux Mint 20 bundled version as well (I think it was 68), so I guess it must've gotten messed up somewhere between versions 68 and 78.
Anyway, I am closing this bug. Hopefully the Mint team will prepare an updated distro-specific version soon. Until then, a manual installation of a fresh version is the obvious choice.
