Thanks so much for your help.

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]: If this is an issue with Firefox in the latest beta, it would be bad to go to release with a bug with Bitdefender.

Radu, do you know if BitDefender has gotten any similar reports?

Hello! We tried reproducing this issue on macOS 11.6 M1 mini (8gb-2020) and MacBook Air M1 (8gb- 2020) with macOS 11.6.2 but with no luck. We used the Bitdefender Total Security trial (30days license).

On M1 mini we tried reproducing the issue with Firefox 97.0b7 and the latest nightly. I see a CPU increase when opening new sites but no hangs or long site loading time occurs. This can be also seen on 96.0.2. I also tried to reproduce with 97.0b6 DevEdition and installed all addons presented in the attached profiler. CPU increase happens for Firefox process and Firefox web extensions process but I don’t see any CPU increase for Bitdefender or long loading times on webpages. I also loaded neverssl.com and the page loads almost instantly for me. The CPU increases happen with Bitdefender disabled as well.

The issue does not reproduce on M1 MacBook air 11.6.2 either. We tried reproducing with 97.0b6, 97.0b7 and 97.0b7 DevEdition.
If any new information is received or this needs some special scenarios testing please let us know. Thank you!

Radu, do you know if BitDefender has gotten any similar reports?

Sure, I'll check and reply to this thread if we have any info.

Hello!

We tested internally on multiple configurations and were unable to reproduce the issue with our current market version. We have no similar issues reported in support. We are happy to help the original reporter of the bug if they contact our support and give use some more details about the issue. With current info there is nothing else we can do.

Best wishes to you all and thank you for reporting this to us,
Radu

Asif, neither our internal QA nor Bitdefender have been able to reproduce this. Can you ask the original Reddit reporter if they're still seeing issues?

Actually, given https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/s9n29s/bitdefender_using_150_cpu_whenever_i_open_a_new/huftejw/ I'll just close this out as WFM. Thanks everyone for your efforts in investigating.
