It appears that as of 2022-01-26, Nightly on Ubuntu 20.04 with the default Gnome desktop and with the distro-provided amdgpu driver is not treated as Wayland-eligible by default.
However, with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
this combination at least with the RX 460 GPU specifically has worked very well for quite a long time already.
I suggest treating this configuration as Wayland-eligible by default.

Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't enable Wayland by default and thus doesn't backport relevant patches for important dependencies such as GTK3. Note that the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will get it.
