User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:96.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/96.0
Steps to reproduce:
I try to copy many text from page and select it fast by clipboard
( button "Windows" + V )
Actual results:
When I copy link from link board on top of page it shows in clipboard.
But when I copy something e.g from wikipedia it is copied but isn't saved in clipboard. Only on mozilla is this problem.
This happend if i remember since early 2021
Expected results:
Each copied text should display at clipboard.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::DOM: Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Dear reporter,
Can you elaborate more on that when the content wasn't shown on Windows clipboard history, how did you determine if the content was copied ?
Can you please try again with Firefox troubleshooting mode as I wasn't able to reproduce the issue?
My steps:
- Copy a link from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1753567
- Press button "Windows+V". The link was shown.
- Visit a random wiki page, e.g. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Hauptseite, copy some texts there
- Press button "Windows+V". The texts were shown.
This happend if i remember since early 2021
Expected results:
Each copied text should display at clipboard.

Dear reporter, please feel free to reopen this, when you've got a chance to get back here for comment 2. Thanks!
Hello there !
You have done everything good in that recipe but problem probably is with my laptop or settings. And I dont know where try to looking for them.
I discover it when I work with another laptop one day with my firend via team viewer and there everything work correctly at mozilla with clipboard.
To sum up:
In My steps:
1. Copy a link from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1753567
2. Press button "Windows+V". The link was shown.
3. Visit a random wiki page, e.g. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Hauptseite, copy some texts there
4. Press button "Windows+V". The texts were NOT shown. ( Diffrent than in your situation).
I try look at this recommanded troubleshootingmode. If it repair I will make here a next feedback :-)
Okey I repaired it and I know where the problem apper. I use troubleshoot mode i the second option help ( refresh settings and add on).
Well I start to sett and check evrything from beginning.
Well the problem appeard with ones actualization of mozilla year go and the problem is in the settings safety and security - section history
(about:preferences#privacy)
I like using priavte mode where I dont save history. And that is problem. The IT developer cause that situation which i discribe. Copied text from hiperlink display in clipborad but a text copied from other places not. But we are able to paste it anywhere .
It is a invisible element which has behavior like elements in LIFO Stack ;-) When we copy someting new form browers this element die beacause he isn't in clipboard. This is issue connected with this option history mode.
Some times ago there wasn't this problem because I use this mode since i got first PC 10y ago. But issue is since 2021.
Of course this could not be an issue if Developer planned behavior like that during ctrl+c win+V ctrl+v operation.
If IT developer seriously want to not save a history with cope and paste mode, so they make an error.
I think this should look like that "we are not be able to paste anything copied from internet and copy anything ( of course nothing display at clipboard but we also not paste anything when we try to click ctrl+c.)
But acctualy we are not able to display it at clipboarb but we are able to copy and paste it. This nonsense then.
I hope you dear reader and mozilla guard feel the blues (understand situation ;-) )
Please fix this issue to priavte mode. Windows Clipboard should be not connected with broweser memory ( i mean history)
E.g Chrome browser and Edge hasn't option to save history all time but they have option to delate history after closed mozilla sesion.
Or if this ideo to not display copied text was planned by mozilla developer then I understand but then this is nosense becasue we are able to paste it what was we copied. then the copy mode should be also blocked.
This is topic to discuss with admistration and developer. My opion is this first option (able to display and copy in private mode).
I hope helped if I detected a bug and hope priavetly that Mozilla developer fix that
Cheers.
I forgot to change status ( reopen) after your information about resovled status.
So I write more about this issue 24 day ago. I hope you will check it

My understanding is that enabling "Always use private browsing mode" in about:preferences#privacy
, with the steps to reproduce mentioned in #c4 lead to the issue. Lenny, please correct me if I'm wrong.
However, the issue didn't reproduce with Linux (Ubuntu 20.04). Will ask QA to check this with Windows.

It looks to me like something we have done in early 2021 caused this issue. We should first figure out the regression range to further handle the problem here.

Hey all,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us! This is the expected behavior, let me explain why.
Private Browsing guarantees user that their information is not leaked to disk or cloud.
We ask Windows to not copy clipboard data to Cloud Clipboard (cloud) or Clipboard History (disk).
Windows+V shows Clipboard History, but not the real clipboard and I think this is what adds some confusion.
Classic Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V works as always, but not Windows+V.
