Bug 1753863 includes a proposal to merge the prefs browser.search.openintab and browser.urlbar.openintab. Since both prefs are exposed to addons in openSearchResultsInNewTabs and openUrlbarResultsInNewTabs, this may have an impact on addons. I don't know how to investigate addon usage data for these settings so hopefully someone can help with this. Also, please reassign this if there's a more suitable component. Thanks 🙏
