User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:97.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/97.0

Steps to reproduce:

Hi. I set up an old HP 250g Laptop for my mum. OS is Linux Mint 20.3, xfce. Firefox shows according to the attached picture a restriction when it comes to updates. We are private people and do not have an administrator.... :)

thanks a lot in advance

Armin

Actual results:

Thunderbird, 91.5.0 (64-Bit), seems to do well...

Expected results:

Firefox should not be restricted when it comes to updates...

Issue has no relation with German localization, moving out of the Bugzilla component.

You have installed Firefox through your Linux distribution. Your distribution is going to make updates to installed apps, including Firefox, through its own package manager. In order to do it, it prevents Firefox to manage updates on its own (hence the message).

If you want to change that, you need to install Firefox from mozilla.org, which might not be trivial if you're not familiar with Linux management.
