Details
Build ID: 1999102908
Platform: Windows 98
To reproduce:
- Launch the browser
- Drop down the File menu
Result: There is an item that reads 'Print Setup' with an accelerator of 'r'.
Expected result: This should read 'Page Setup' and have an accelerator of 'u'.
German - if you decide to go with the 'Print Setup', it would be super if you
could at least change the accelerator to 'u' to make it easier on us Windows
users! Thanks!

re-assign to german to fix it.
Page Setup is fine.
Is the mnemonic 'u' really the one we want? MS Word and IE use it, but MS Paint
and Notepad and other built-in Windows utilities use 't'.
Although I no longer work in QA, my feeling is that Office 2000 / IE 5.01 are
the applications to follow, and not Paint/Notepad/etc as those are not used as
frequently by 'end-users' as are O2K/IE. claudius?

I'm no windows user so I don't have an inherent 'feel' for which we should use. If MS isn't
even consistent with their approach how can we compare to them? FWIW, Nav4 uses 'g' as
the accelerator. I vote for backwards compatibility if possible and logical.
I'm still rooting for 'u' as it's what's used by nearly every commonly used
Windows app. 'g' is just bizarre - yeah, that's what they used in 4.x, but some
mistakes are best left behind us. :)

Summary: [PP] Win32 - 'Print Setup' should read 'Page Setup' → Win32 - 'Print Setup' should read 'Page Setup'
I just confirmed with German, the correct term is "Page Setup" with the "u"
underlined.
Please assign to the correct engineer so this can get implemented. Shouldn't
this be a global overlay?

I'll try to work on this. We all agree that only win32 should change to Page
Setup and have an accelerator of u, and mac, and unix will keep Print Setup
with an r...correct?

Blake, all platforms should have `Page Setup', not just Windows. `Page Setup' has
been the standard wording on Mac OS for >10 years.
Keywords: pp
OS: Windows 98 → All
Hardware: PC → All
Summary: Win32 - 'Print Setup' should read 'Page Setup' → 'Print Setup' should be 'Page Setup'

I just said that because that seemed to be the general consensus here. Having
it consistent across all the platforms would be easier to implement, though.
German, Vera - what's the deal here? Tell me what needs to be done so I can
do it.
I still see modern Windows apps that use Print Setup... (AOL, for example).
All depends on what the dialog is actually going to do, really. Will it be
more geared towards various printer setup options, or primarily page setup
options (i.e. page size, orientation, etc.)? Since the dialog will handle most
of the same stuff across various platforms, I'd think a cross-platform solution
with a consistent naming scheme would be best. But again, I defer to german or
vera.

I'm afraid I don't have much to add -- I've noticed a lack of consistency on
both platforms. In general it feels to me like "Print Setup" refers to printing
settings, and "Page Setup" refers to things like paper size and orientation as
Blake noted. So I'd go with "Page Setup," and the "u" underlined. I'll check
this out on the Mac tomorrow, though, and ask some Mac people.

As far as I can determine, "Print Setup" isn't used on the Mac, and there is no
keyboard shortcut for "Page Setup." I think you can go ahead with "Page Setup,"
with the "u" underlined.
Sorry about the delay... I've been on vacation! :-)
