Steps to reproduce:
On the most recent release of macOS, use Firefox I downloaded a few weeks ago.
Also, aus5.mozilla.org returns NXDOMAIN by the local network resolver.
Actual results:
Firefox pops-up from the top-right context menu saying it's out of date and to click there to download the latest version. That takes me to Mozilla's official Firefox download page.
But selecting Firefox > About says "Firefox is up to date" (even though it's version 98.0.1 which doesn't appear the latest on the Mozilla site).
Expected results:
Firefox should not say it's up to date when it isn't, it should say it can't check for updates like Google Chrome when aus5.mozilla.org can't be reached.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Cocoa' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.
