Note

  • When the user launches the browser in wayland window protocol, opens different windows in different positions and sizes, then closes and restores them, he will notice that their previous size and position is not restored.

Affected versions

  • Nightly v100.0a1

Affected platforms

  • Ubuntu 22 + wayland window protocol

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch browser.
  2. Open different windows and position them differently.
  3. Close the browser and reopen the same profile.
  4. Restore the previous session.

Expected result

  • The windows are restored in their previous size and position.

Actual result

  • The windows' content is restored,m but their size and position are not.

Regression range

  • Not a recent regression!

Additional notes

  • This issue does NOT occur in xwayland window protocol.

I think this is unfixable, we don't control window position on wayland

Yes, that needs to be fixed on Wayland compositor level (i.e. Mutter/gnome-shell).
