User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021015 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021015 Wouldn't it be more intuitive (especially for novice users) to have the preferences appear as a webpage in the viewport instead of a separate window? Similar to what MSN 8 is doing, where entering "Settings" in the location bar takes you to a local page from which you can change all the settings of the browser. Any thoughts from usability people on this? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Something like chrome://communicator/content/pref/pref.xul entered into your URLbar?
Well yeah, but done a bit more neatly. That's just the prefs window, fullscreen. I would think that a nicely designed page would be better than that pref.xul :)
prefs are available as a web page in mozilla. just enter about:config into the urlbar. is that what you're looking for?
No. Will attach screenshot of MSN 8 'settings' page to show what I'm talking about.
I think that it will be nearly impossible to write any HTML that comes anywhere close to being as efficient and reasonable-looking as the prefs XUL... but people are welcome to try it out.
