User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:100.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/100.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. On far right of the Bookmarks Toolbar, click on double-arrows to display drop-down menu of the 'extended-list' of these bookmarks
  2. Right-click on any of these bookmarks
  3. The contextual menu is not working correctly in all instances. Sometimes it open correctly, most times it flashes and disappears

Actual results:

When right clicking on one of the extended list bookmarks, the contextual menu many times does not open, just flashes and disappears, or opens the bookmark. When attempting to delete a bookmark, the contextual menu may open correctly and allow the user to delete to bookmark. In many cases, the menu does not open and the bookmark actually opens. Not the desired outcome.

Expected results:

Right click, contextual menu appears, user selects an action from contextual menu (ie; 'Delete Bookmark', etc)

Using Firefox Developer Edition 100.0b3 (64-bit). Mac OS 10.13.6

Hi, wondered if I filed this report correctly? Also, the problem described continues with the latest version 101.0b1 (64-bit)

Moving across to core, since I think this is probably an issue with the code behind the menus rather than the front-end.

Has this started happening recently? If you're unsure, would you be willing to run (mozregression)[https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/quickstart.html] to see when this started happening? You might need to create a configuration file that points to your current profile if this only occurs with lots of bookmarks. I could walk you through the steps to do so, if necessary.

The issue started a short while before I posted here. It continues today with the latest update 101.0b8 (64-bit). I do have a lot of bookmarks (2300 plus folders). I'd be happy to try what you suggest re a config file. Please advise the steps. Thank you.

The easiest way would be to run the command line version of mozregression and specifying the path to your current Firefox profile. You can do so like this:

mozregression --profile=/path/to/profile

You can get the path to your profile by clicking on the hamburger menu in the top right corner of Firefox, then "Help" and "More troubleshooting information". The path will be listed under "Profile Folder".

I tried to reproduce this issue on DevEdition 106.0b9, Nightly 107.0a1 on macOS 12, Ubuntu 22, Windows 10 without success.
I will close this bug as RESOLVED INCOMPLETE due to the lack of answer from the reporter. Please re-open the bug if the issue is still reproducible on you end.
Thank you.
