The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sync' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Sync

Sorry you are having this problem.

Have you set a "primary password"? If not, then I'm afraid your profile is corrupt in an obscure way that is preventing any logins from being saved - whether that's via sync or manually, as you are finding. Because Sync's credentials are also stored in the login manager, you will probably find that you need to sign back into sync every time the browser starts too, which is a symptom of the same problem.

You can try to repair your profile by deleting logins.json, logins-backup.json and key4.db from your profile directory, or if you aren't sure about how to do that, then uninstalling Firefox and ensuring that the uninstall deletes your personal data, then reinstalling it should fix the problem - and reconnecting sync should them bring your data in. https://support.mozilla.org might be able to help you if you have trouble.

I'm going to close this as a dupe of bug 1124553 as we are tracking this general issue there.
