User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:99.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/99.0
Steps to reproduce:
Download a PNG file and click the entry in the 'Downloads' button drop-down to open it. (OS: Kubuntu 21.10)
Actual results:
File is opened in Chrome.
Expected results:
File should open in the program set as the default handler for this file-type on my system (Gwenview). I haven't checked in depth but it seems this bug is present for other file-types as well, eg. downloaded PDFs open in Firefox which is not my default association on my system, either.
If I look in Firefox Settings, nothing immediately looks amiss as I have 'Save file' selected as the action, however if I click the drop-down I see Chrome listed as 'Default'. I don't know where this 'Default' is coming from, and I don't want to re-select the appropriate executable by hand for every file type in this list - my system's defaults should be used. As you can see in my screenshot, Chrome isn't even anywhere close to the top of the list of handlers I have configured for this file type.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::File Handling' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

This is an issue with KDE integration. I tried to get traction on the original dupe a while back but to no avail. I (and other folks on the Firefox front-end team) do not have the relevant KDE expertise to fix this ourselves. I will try again to get some traction.
