(Reporter: tho.mei, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:99.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/99.0

Steps to reproduce:

Using Firefox 99.0 on Linux, Fedora release 34, x86_64

1.) Open the setting in Firefox
2.) Choose for PDF-Files an external viewer link Okular or XPDF
3.) Open/Download a PDF from a url.

Actual results:

The working part:

  • The PDF is viewed in the chosen viewer.

The not correctly working part:

  • The "temporary" PDF is stored in /home/$USER/
  • Firefox doesn't remove the temporary file

Expected results:

The temporary file should be stored in a sub-directory of /tmp/ or /var/tmp/
Used to work in former FF versions.

It's not about the internal PDF viewer.

This is the PDF-specific part of bug 1738574. We are likely to reconsider that bug "soon", so please don't be discouraged by the fact that it is currently closed.
