Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/15.4 Safari/605.1.15

Steps to reproduce:

Restored my system from backup, launched Firefox, logged in

Actual results:

Sync then overwrote my settings.

Expected results:

I should have had a choice on which direction to sync.

  1. Browser to server
  2. Server to browser.
  3. Bidirectional (merge)

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sync' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Sync
Component: Sync → Untriaged

Unfortunately, Sync doesn't work in a way that such an offer can be made in a way that makes sense. Sync always merges, although what "merge" means is complicated in the face of conflicting changes. What exactly did it overwrite?

I will close this bug as RESOLVED INCOMPLETE due to the lack of answer from the reporter. Please re-open this bug if it's still reproducible on your end. Thank you.
