Details

(Whiteboard: [necko-triaged])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:101.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/101.0

Steps to reproduce:

ProtonVPN desktop app
Turning on/off or changing a server leads the browser to infinite loading that will never get succeeded.

Actual results:

Nothing helps to load any page: click, F5, duplicating tabs, Ctrl+C and opening in a new tab - nothing, but only closing the browser and opening anew. The problem didn't exist when I just started using ProtonVPN app, it appeared since I changed Firefox to the "beta" update channel (to v99 or maybe v98). This issue exists for about a month, about 3 versions including 2-digit v99

Expected results:

Just let the browser recognize that internet connection is changing. Somehow it stopped analyzing and just strictly tries to connect the previous inaccessible way

Oh, wait, I've just found out that it works fine in a new window. The problem can be seen only in the window with pinned tabs.
Maybe even deeper: Strict mode, HTTPS only, but one of the pinned tabs is errored as "PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR" (proxyfied student library)

The errored tab was probably the reason. Attaching GIF vid of my Firefox

Browser extensions are not VPNs despite they named VPN, it's rather proxying tools.

Hi Reporter,

We've recently added a new preference, network.http.http2.move_to_pending_list_after_network_change, aimed at improving how Firefox handles changes in network connections, such as when a VPN is activated. Could you please download the latest Firefox Nightly build, enable this preference, and test again to see if the issue persists?

Thanks.
