Steps to reproduce:

I am on Ubuntu 22.04, running the Firefox snap version.
User agent: "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:100.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/100.0"

Recently I have encountered the issue of unable to save PDF to certain directories.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a PDF file on any website. (Example: https://www.gfw.report/publications/imc20/data/paper/shadowsocks.pdf)
2. Try to use the "Save as PDF" right-click menu in the right click menu to save PDF.
3. Try to use the "Download" button on top right to save PDF.

I tested saving files to various directories.

Actual results:

Target directories I have tried:
✔ Success:
~/
~/Documents
~/Downloads
✘ Failed:
~/Documents/gfw-papers/pdf/

I can save files to the directories accessible from the left sidebar.
However, for other directories, it consistently fails.

Expected results:

PDF should be saved as long as I have write access to that directory.

Also tried bookmark directories on the left sidebar. Saving is successful.

But if I navigate to a location from the folder view, saving fails.

I can't repro, and there has been quite a lot of fix recently around xdg-desktop-portal, can you still repro the issue on an uptodate system ?

Fixed in Firefox 101.0.
