This bug is for determining if WPR is a suitable replacement for mitmproxy. If it isn't then we should work on upgrading all of our tests to mitmproxy 7 or 8 and/or start seriously looking into creating TP7.

Summary: Determine if WPR is a suitable replacement for mitmproxy → [meta] Determine if WPR is a suitable replacement for mitmproxy

Overall mitmproxy seems to be significantly less noisy and likely the better choice to continue using.
To be clear, noise here is a relative noise, and in all cases mitmproxy is relatively less noisy than webpagereplay. Although only 3 sites are tested in this minimal study ( Amazon, Nytimes, and Ebay), it is reasonable to conclude that it is not worth exploring further, and also important to take into consideration that these are fairly high traffic sites as well.

Going forward, it would seem that we may have to investigate each high traffic site individually (at first) and determine possible solutions, in addition to upgrading mitmproxy to 8.1.1 for recordings/replays

The follow up of all of this will be addressed in Bug 1770456 and its associated Jira ticket
