(Reporter: am798odo, Unassigned)

Details

(Keywords: privacy)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:101.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/101.0

Steps to reproduce:

Browse the web as you would. Then delete your history. And then, hit Ctrl+Shift+T multiple times

Actual results:

The deleted history started to open one by one

Expected results:

Deleted history shouldn't have been retrieved. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature. I don't know if this can be rectified by disabling cache but that's not an ideal solution right??

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Bookmarks & History
Component: Bookmarks & History → Data Sanitization
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Any updates on this??

I assume that the ability to restore tabs remains, because the SessionStore isn't cleared when clearing history. How are you clearing the history? Could you provide a list of steps or a screenshot?
Thanks!

I clear history by hitting Ctrl+Shift+H and Del.
Another interesting thing is that will bug/feature also happens in incognito mode too.

By deleting sites via the Library window you're only clearing history entries. Other data stored about the site, such as session history, remains. I'll move this back to Bookmarks & History for folks decide if they want to support this use-case. That is, clearing domains from session store when items are deleted from history.

As a workaround you can also clear items via the context menu "forget about this site": https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox#w_remove-a-single-website-from-your-history
Note that this will remove all data associated with the site, including passwords.

Ok, thanks. But isn't there any better way to do this other than clearing everything??
I mean I want to delete just the history, not cookies and other things.

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:mak, could you have a look please?
