We currently use miniconda 4.5.11.
Later versions back then were known to break on Windows, so we stayed on that.
However newer versions do support macOS arm64 natively and thus are worth an upgrade.
Before doing so we should verify the Windows issues are fixed.
Current miniconda version available: 4.12.0

Turns out switching to a native arm64 macos install isn't as easy, because the gradle-python-envs plugin we use can't handle it.

This is how our last attempt to update miniconda went: https://github.com/mozilla/glean/pull/1057
Broke on Windows with:
pip is configured with locations that require TLS/SSL, however the ssl module in Python is not available.

Oh, is this the same as bug 1617906?

From what I read newer Python/pip versions should have this fixed, but we won't know until we upgrade.
However ... as said in #1 we don't get anything just yet by an upgrade because it still doesn't support non-x86 hosts anyway.

Triaging as P3 since we don't get much from upgrading just yet

FWIW I hit this very same issue when trying to build Wolvic (which depends on glean Gradle plugin) on an Apple Silicon machine. It'd be awesome to provide a fix because otherwise builds on apple hardware will depend on Rosetta which I don't think it's going to stay for ever.
