As a user, I want to control the in-product messages I receive from Firefox. We should give users an option to opt out of the messages.
Currently in about:preferences, we have the following options:
General
- Recommend extensions as you browse
- Recommend features as you browse
Snippets
- Tips and news from Mozilla and Firefox
We should do the following:
-
Have our promotions (i.e. VPN, Firefox Focus, Mobile etc) as well as messages on our new callout messaging surface respect the "recommend features as you browse" setting.
-
Hide "Snippets". Users do not know what snippets are and might be irritated if they continue to receive tips from us
