RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1549204

People

(Reporter: rarsneezes, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0

Steps to reproduce:

Not reproduceable, but bug with container tabs that occurred upon the latest Firefox update.

Actual results:

Firefox has container tabs built into the browser for a while now, NOT REQUIRING the multiple containers addon (which is all I can find support about). When Firefox updated last, it cleared all my login data in all of my containers (this doesn't happen when I regularly close and reopen firefox, only occurred on the update) and deleted all custom containers I had created.

Expected results:

Custom containers should not be deleted. Presumably, containers should not clear all login cookies, unless this is intended behavior. If this is intended behavior, it should be listed somewhere so users are aware of it and/or have the option to turn it off. (While I understand the security reason for clearing cookies, no one wants to unexpectedly need to re-login to all of their accounts.)

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Untriaged' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Product: Firefox → WebExtensions

Please let me know which container addon was used instead of Firefox Multi-Account Containers or how you created the containers in order to try to reproduce the issue on our side.

Thank you.

I guess what I assumed was a firefox thing was actually Facebook Container giving me container tabs......... and subsequently whenever I enable/disable it it commpletely deletes whatever containers I had created. Installed the actual Multi-Account Containers addon and it works perfectly, without deleting any containers or anything whenever I enable/disable it.

So, I guess the problem was with the Facebook Container addon which happens when you don't ALSO have Multi-Account Containers installed.

Thanks for the roundabout help!

Currently, when a container add-on is disabled, all container data is deleted out of caution. This behavior is not ideal, and bug 1549204 is tracking improvements.
