User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0

Steps to reproduce:

I moved the window to the main screen (I use 2 screens: laptop and an old HP/Compaq monitor) and when trying to maximize to full screen size it doesn't cover the full size of the screen. In the secondary monitor it does cover the full screen, it only happens on the main laptop screen.
Ubuntu 22
Intel Core i7 8th
Intel graphics

Actual results:

The window appears to be an insert in the main screen and not the full width of the screen.

Expected results:

The window should have covered the full screen size

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Graphics' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi there, it may be helpful if you open the page "about:support" in your browser and click the "Copy text to clipboard" button near the top, please make an attachment on this bug and paste the text there. It will help us understand what compositor (Wayland, X11) and window manager is in use.

Triage - I am tentatively assigning severity S3, pending more details.

My vague guess is that resize events aren't making it into the browser properly, but I am not experienced with that code.

Yes, this is old good Bug 1630251 and it's variant.

I filmed a short screencast of the behaviour on screen.

Do we have a solution for this issue with the Gtk widget, or are there workarounds for this bug until it is fixed? The bug video in comment #6 shows it is reproducible by just clicking the maximize button or hotkey, it doesn't look like restoring a session to me.

We don't have a fix for that. Can you try some old Firefox version if it even worked before or if that's a recent regression?

Summary: Maximize button doesn't fill screen completely → [X11] Maximize button doesn't fill screen completely

Running on Wayland may fix that - you have Wayland session active but you use XWayland - X11 emulation over Wayland compositor.
From the log it looks like you're running Snap version of Firefox, not sure how to switch it to Wayland but it should be possible.

Update: Just figured out that closing the app/programme and opening it again solves the issue. After a while it happens again and I can repeat this workaround.

Thanks

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue using firefox 106.0b4 snap on Ubuntu 22.04 but unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce it on my end.
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?

  1. Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
  2. Does this issue happen in the latest nightly? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
  3. Do you have any addons installed if so can you list them?
