For "Service workers not compatible", which is an in-product link, please add a second possible explanation: automatic private browsing mode.

At least for now, browser.privatebrowsing.autostart = true prevents use of service workers. This was mentioned in the 2016 bug creating the documentation, but I guess this explanation was omitted then or got lost along the way.
