Details
Affected versions:
- Nightly (105.0a1/20220815214739)
- Beta (104.0/20220815150936)
Steps to reproduce:
- Launch the browser and open a new tab
- In the new tab, access https://support.mozilla.org or any link containing the mentioned URL
- Close the tab with the https://support.mozilla.org page
- Observe the browser crashes
Description:
Accessing any page from https://support.mozilla.org and closing the tab will cause the browser to crash.
Expected results:
The browser should not crash after closing a tab with a page from https://support.mozilla.org
Actual results:
The browser crashes when closing a tab with a page from https://support.mozilla.org
NOTE:
Several links from Addons Manager also direct the user to a https://support.mozilla.org page opened in a new tab. Closing the tab with the support page will crash the browser. This is how the issue has been observed in the first place.
The links in question are:
- the “recommends” link in the page header on the “Recommendations” tab (“...Here’s a selection Firefox recommends for exceptional security, performance, and functionality. ...”)
- the “Learn more” link on the gray banner on both the “Recommendations” and “Extensions” tabs (“Some of these recommendations are personalized. They are based on other extensions you’ve installed, profile preferences, and usage statistics. Learn more”)
