Feature request:  the ability to detach photos etc from email to store
separately (keeping email files nice and texty and small).

If you save the attachment yourself (manually), bug 2920 would allow you to
delete  the attachment from the mail itself. Is this what you want ?
Yes, sorry.  I did search the database for this bug, but I guess I didn't search
well enough.
