Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0
Steps to reproduce:
In a context with web notification permission, run this:
new Notification("original title", { tag: "foobar" });
setTimeout(() => {
new Notification("updated title", { tag: "foobar" });
}, 200);
…to open a notification, then update its title after 200ms.
macOS 12.3.1
Actual results:
The notification appears briefly, but is closed when it gets updated.
Expected results:
The notification should have been updated while remaining open.

The bugzilla component situation is a little awkward here, but in general I understand the situation here to be:
- The algorithm for showing a notification in step 4 handles replacement. Platforms aren't required to support replacement, but as the non-normative note says "it leads to ba better user experience"
- nsIAlertsService.idl is used for notifications. They are immutable and the semantics are defined as the name of a new nsIAlertNotification causing replacement on supported platforms, but with the docs indicating we only expect to support this on Windows and Android.
- Under the hood mozilla::dom::Notification::ShowInternal indeed just creates an alert and it does attempt to create a stable name to support replacement, so I think this (likely enhancement) bug probably should go under Toolkit :: Notifications and Alerts or propagated to the appropriate platform widget support component.
