Interacting with satellitetracker.net on any platform is incredibly janky in Firefox, but very smooth in Chrome. In the originating WebCompat bug, Oana captured a profile: https://share.firefox.dev/3cNdO09
I see a lot of time spent in canvas2d functions in that profile, and most of it appears to be initiated by CanvasRenderingContext2D.fillText
? This might be a duplicate of bug 1110580 then, but I figured it's worth filing a new bug so someone can make sure I'm reading the profile right.

Interestingly, I just looked into another webcompat bug, this time on https://xn--ubhnchen-1za.vercel.app/en, where the profile looks very similar to the satellitetracker one. Are those related?

I came across this performance issue. For reasons unknown, the issue has disappeared and the performance has become acceptable, on par with Firefox's general WebGL performance expections.
Performance Profile: https://share.firefox.dev/3SotMNr
GPU:
Intel -- Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (WHL GT2)
4.6 (Core Profile) Mesa 22.1.7
Fedora 36

This looks mostly dependent on software filter node performance which, sadly, we don't have a good acceleration plan for at the moment.
