User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have i3-gaps as window manager
  2. Open a link from any application (it goes through xdg-open)

Actual results:

Firefox opened on some workspace, but I have no idea which one.
With other browser said workspace gets marked as urgent and it can be focused through i3.

Expected results:

Firefox should open a new tab/window as usual, but the workspace it opens on should be marked as urgent in i3wm.

Attached file mimeapps.list —

This is my mimeapps.list file which sets firefox as the default application to open links.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core

To reproduce the issue all I need to do is run xdg-open https://www.mozilla.org/.

If I change my default browser to e.g. brave-browser, i3wm correctly marks it as urgent if the window was opened on an another workspace.

After a lot of tries and failures and being unable to reproduce it anywhere else, it seems to work after refreshing firefox through about:support.

I'll close this after a couple of days if I don't manage to reproduce it again.
