Apologies, I'm not aware of the exact policies regarding feature requests here so I may not have done it correctly.
Currently, the only way to disable the search shortcuts menu is by disabling all search shortcuts in about:preferences#search
. However, this leads to tab to search based on the URL ceasing to function (though the keyword still works). This is undesirable behavior for my workflow because it is more convenient to be able to switch between an exact URL and the search function on-the-fly, and sometimes is faster to type. It also makes it easier to use the tab to search function as I only need to remember the URL.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Search' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Would it be possible to detail this enhancement report by providing clearer and more specific steps?
How do you perform the search after removing the check mark next to each search engine in about:preferences#search? Could you please give an example here?
