Thunderbird auto-update from v.9x to v.102 wiped out half my calendar entries (and other problems)

Steps to reproduce:
(1)
In about the first week of September (2022), Thunderbird prompted me to relaunch to install an update. When the updated (v.102) Thunderbird launched, I discovered that half my calendar events were gone -- there were 14 days in September with NO events ... in spite of the fact that I had an 'everyday' morning reminder event among those that disappeared. See attached file (T-BIRD 102 CALENDAR DAMAGE.jpg).
(2)
Note in that calendar image the disagreement between the 'mini-month' and the 'full-month' about what day is 'Today' -- Sep-7 or Sep-8 !??
(3)
when I ask to display events in the current month that contain "BDAY", it displays ALL events that contain "BDAY".
(4)
I always have 2 'message' windows open (for 2 different groups of folders), and each window has multiple tabs (for folders etc). Until the v.102 update, key strokes [Ctrl + PageUp / PageDown] moved the focus to the LEFT / RIGHT between the tabs.
NOW (v.102) ... [Ctrl + PageUp / PageDown] sometimes works as before, but when it comes to certain tabs, those key strokes behave differently: (a) they move up or down IN THE MESSAGE-LIST or (b) move up or down IN THE FOLDER LIST !!! ... and I have to move to a different tab using the mouse !-(
(5)
Before Tbird-102 ... Reading a message, with the cursor on the 'Subject' field, {Right-Click + 'Copy'} used to copy (for example) ...
"New Thunderbird Videos!"
Now Tbird-102 ... using the same mouse action, copies
"Subject:New Thunderbird Videos!"
(*)
There may be other problems, but this is enuf to get started.
I am disappointed and distressed.
What happened? Did I get a pre-beta v.102 or a counterfeit download by mistake?
How can I get a working Tbird-102?
How can I get my calendar entries back?
And other 'assets' such as AddressBook if more damage is found?
A friend is suggesting it may be time to switch to MS Outlook. :=\

Thanks for all the detail. Focusing helps, so let's focus on the calendar issue.
We've got approximately 2 million users on version 102, and I'd say the number of calendar problems being reported suggests there is not a widespread problem.
But there are reports coming - unlikely to all have the same cause.
- last three months https://mzl.la/3DxuV1g
- approximately half have been reported in the last two weeks https://mzl.la/3f0oMQA
Also, v.102 shows an Activity Manager window. What's that for? Perhaps I should RTFM, but I expected v.102 to simply carry on -- with improvements. Disappointed :-(

I'm a user here, not a Dev. There are always going to be gotchas when you upgrade to a new major ESR version from a previous ESR major version. Seamlessness is the goal but TB upgrades cannot possibly account for all changes for all users that happened between major ESR versions.
To gather more info on your calendars, can you do the following:
- With TB open, press Alt-3 to open you calendar tab.
- Do both of your calendars show as being enabled like in my image? Meaning, you do NOT see an eyeball icon with the slash through it?
- If they appear to be enabled---hover you mouse cursor over the calendar, it should be an eyeball icon---then, using your mouse cursor, click on the eyeball icon that will appear and disable the calendar, and then click the eyeball icon again to enable it. Did you events show up now?
- Also, log into the WebUI version of your GMail account and make sure in the GMail calendar app it is showing your events.
Worst case scenario, it might be an OAuth2 issue that is gumming things up and you may simply need to do a right-click on the bad calendar and 1) Unsubcribe Calendar action on the calendar that's having the problem of showing up, 2) close and relaunch TB then Alt-3 to go back to the calendar Tab and then 3) on the left Calendar pane do a New Calendar action and re-add the calendar that's giving you trouble.
It could just be a profile glitch that's gumming it up and it just needs to be re-added to fix it. Could you give that a try and let us know what happens?

Have you restarted your computer?
Yes, and the Activity Manager window has not re-appeared. :-)

When I do this, I don't get anything like the image you provided. I get the same screen I posted first above (T-BIRD 102 CALENDAR DAMAGE.jpg), but without the overlay annotations and grey-outs.

I think I only have one calendar -- local to Tbird. I do not use a Google calendar (@gmail.com).
- If they appear to be enabled---hover you mouse cursor over the calendar, it should be an eyeball icon---then, using your mouse cursor, click on the eyeball icon that will appear and disable the calendar, and then click the eyeball icon again to enable it. Did you events show up now?
n/a

When I go to Gmail WebUI, click on 'Google apps', then scroll down and click on 'Calendar' (which opens in a new tab) ... I see a very sparsely populated calendar, with lots of (all?) national holidays, which I didn't put there (such as 'Tax Day' and 'Halloween') ... and a very few items relating to me (Aug=2, Sep=1, Oct=0), several of which were scheduled thru Eventbrite; I didn't put them there.
Worst case scenario, it might be an OAuth2 issue that is gumming things up and you may simply need to do a right-click on the bad calendar and 1) Unsubscribe Calendar action on the calendar that's having the problem of showing up, 2) close and relaunch TB then Alt-3 to go back to the calendar Tab and then 3) on the left Calendar pane do a New Calendar action and re-add the calendar that's giving you trouble.

A couple questions for you:
- Do you have any addons enabled?
- Can you go to the menu bar, navigate to View > Calendar > Calendar Pane, and ensure that Calendar List is enabled? That should show you a list of calendars and whether any are hidden.
Sean --
That was 6 months ago and ... after a lot of trial&error (I can't remember the details) I got most/all my calendar entries back, tho' the calendar & Tbird still have weird behavior (that I may have documented [or not?] in other bug reports).
My hope is (someday) to download and install a virgin copy of the current Tbird on my other computer, and then configure it anew for my Gmail and Hotmail accounts. When I tried this some while ago ... as soon as I downloaded & installed Tbird ... it found an old profile (NOT WHAT i WANTED!) ... and the weird behavior continued. This, in spite of me deleting every reference to Tbird that I could find :-( ... Someday I'll try again.

The profile data is under %APPDATA%. You can chose (and delete) profiles by starting with the -p flag (thunderbird.exe -p)
