So I think this is something that would require further investigation and analysis as it could trigger business implications. I can start a thread internally to discuss.

One additional suggestion I've seen (possibly better as a separate bug?) is to not just allow setting Firefox View as a New Tab page, but to be able to add Firefox View elements (e.g. Tab Pickup) to the New Tab page (or, presumably, the other way around — adding New Tab features to Firefox View).

You can already set your home page to about:firefoxview in about:preferences. I guess the ask here is to add some UI the firefox view to perform this for you?
