Steps to reproduce:

Downloaded the listed 32-bit installer for Windows 32-bit and executed it.

Actual results:

Even though the file name indicated that the file is for X86, the installed application crashed right away before the initial window was displayed. The last 32-bit version that I am able to run on a Windows 32-bit OS is 2.53.12

Expected results:

The initial window should have been displayed with errors

Card is ancient and drivers are buggy. Also cards before 08/08 are known to fail frequently because of the so called nvidia bug. Disable hardware acceleration if you experience trouble. If you have 4GB of ram update to Windows 10 x64. I test on a Thinkpad T61 frequently with Windows 7 x64 and NVS140M and SeaMonkey is halfway ok there. Just not speedy.

Seems you downgraded the profile from 2.57 somehow at one time so I suggest trying a new test profile and see if it works.

I'm here to corroborate this problem: Recent SeaMonkey releases chronically crash on startup, rendering them unusable. It's been happening to me (on Windows 7 32-bit, on a Dell E5420 laptop) since the advent of the 2.53.13 release.

I reverted to rock-solid 2.53.12 and held off on upgrading, hoping that the bug was a fluke that would be quickly corrected. No such luck: 2.53.14, 2.53.15, and 2.53.16 crash in the same way!

The problem isn't a corrupt profile, since the crash dialogue appears before the Profile Manager even loads. And it isn't an incompatible extension, since it also happens in Safe Mode. "MozCrashReason: js::jit::InitProcessExecutableMemory() failed" is given as the explanation why. Assuming this is an across-the-board problem, it wreaks my mind that a severe, show-stopping bug of this degree made it out the door.

I have exactly the same problem on ThinkPad W520 with 32-bit Win7.

Since the last update, however, I noticed that I can use 2.53.16 without problems if I restart Seamonkey several times at the crash dialogue. After reboot it takes a lot more restarts.

If there is a problem it is unlikely to get fixed. Make sure you have installed the latest Windows 7 patches available including the SHA-2 signing updates and a page file with at least 8 GB. Check out the unofficial version. Bill is using a different clang which might fix it too or not: https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/ . These days I only test new x86 releases in VMs and there they work fine with Windows 7 x86.

The W520 is more than capable of running Windows 7 x64. I own one. Time to update. Latest Nvidia vidio drivers for it are unfortunately buggy and the HD3000 ones are a bit old too. One reason I mostly switched to the 230/530 despite the keyboard downgrade.
