Slack "Unread" view is cut off on screen but fine on screenshot

Sometimes (??) the "Unread" view of Slack truncates part of the rendering. Using the internal screenshot tool, I see the correct messages.
The amount missing seems to match the size of the normal left panel of Slack. If I drag the slack panel the cutoff amount changes. It appears as though there is confusion between width and end-x since the size of missing area of size of left panel seem to stay the same.

Aha! To reproduce I need to have at more than one screen of unread messages in order to get a scrollbar to appear. I can vertically resize the window to trigger this and once the scroll mode is entered, the behaviour is "sticky" and the rendering error remains until reload even if scrollbar is removed.
