RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1657591

People

(Reporter: pufiad, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:106.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/106.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install multiple certificates.
  2. Connect to a website that uses these certificates.
  3. Choose one of the certificates.
4 Mark "remember this decision". (Some websites prompt for a certificate multiple times, perhaps 8, in one single page load, so it makes it almost necessary to mark the option.
  4. Reload the page or restart Firefox.

Actual results:

There is no usable option to use a different certificate. This problem is made very serious by bug #1220129.

The only solution is to go into an obscure corner of the settings and delete the correct authority decision. Almost no user will be able to find the window and tab and know how to use it; only power users.

Expected results:

There should be an easy way to use a different certificate that most users will be able to use.

Another solution may be to have two checkboxes (or three radio buttons) in the choose certificate window:

  • One for: "remember this decision until I close/restart Firefox".
  • One for: "remember this decision even after restarting Firefox".
