User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:107.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/107.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Download a random photo e.g. from Unsplash (https://unsplash.com/photos/hMVlMBXaP_M)
- Select the file and hit ctrl + c in Files/Nautilus
- I go to the clipboard inspector (https://evercoder.github.io/clipboard-inspector/)
- I hit ctrl + v
- The image does not show up in the output (see screenshot)
Note:
- I tried the Snap version, flatpak, apt-get and the binary that can be downloaded from the website but no luck in any version
- I am using Wayland but it also didn't work in Xorg when I tried (with the apt-get version)
- E.g. in Brave it works as expected and contains the image data, unfortunately I can only attach one screenshot
- I posted this before in the forums if you need more information: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1397133
Actual results:
It only copies the file name
Expected results:
It should contain the image data

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'DevTools::Inspector' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Ah ... I don't know how to correct BugBot, but the issue is not related to the DevTools/Inspector.

Thanks for quickly checking the bug!
Of course it's sad that it's still an open issue (makes using Figma in Firefox much less productive) but at least I know the reason now :)

No problem. Good to know that there is interest in this feature. If you download Beta you can flip a pref and it should work on Ubuntu. See bug 1699743 comment 9.

Yeah totally. I recently switched from Mac (using Brave) to Linux and there it was essential to my workflow.
I frequently used it in the browser for Whatsapp Web, Figma, Notion and Google Docs. Basically everywhere where adding files (mainly images) is a thing. Sometimes I obviously also used drag and drop, but ctrl-c is more comfortable when using the window/app switcher (alt + tab).
