RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1801661

People

(Reporter: LJCrowhurst, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/109.0

Steps to reproduce:

This morning, I updated to Firefox Nightly Browser [109.0a1 (2022-11-21) (64-bit)] on my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) which runs on macOS Monterey [Version 12.6.1 (21G217)]. I operate it with a Apple Magic Mouse. Immediately following installation I noticed that i could no longer scroll on any webpages using Firefox despite no other apps [web browsers (Chrome) or otherwise] sharing the problem. Throughout the morning till now (early afternoon) I've returned periodically to check if anything's changed and it is hit or miss with no other obvious changes. All methods of scrolling are rendered inoperable with the exception of clicking in the scroll bar so that it jumps to a different part of the page but I can't otherwise scroll via dragging the scrollbar, my mouse, or otherwise.

Actual results:

No lasting changes.

Expected results:

I'd like the problem to go away. I've never had it before and would like to not have it now or again in the future.

Yeah, I have the same issue after the latest nightly update. I'm on a MBP with MacOS 13. It's no longer possible to scroll using the trackpad. I can scroll using the arrow up and down and by clicking the scroll bar.

Ooooh, the up and down arrow is a good tip, I didn't think to try that but it seems to be working for me too. Thanks! It's frustrating to deal with this but this helps.

I have a similar problem with the 109.0a1, although under Windows 11 (Notebook: Hasee TX8-CA5DP). When I start Firefox, everything is fine, but after a random time, the scrolling stops working, no matter on which website I am, or if I am scrolling at that moment or not. After a restart of Firefox, everything is fine, until it stops working again.

I tried the internal touchpad of my notebook and an external mouse - still the same problem. I also can't drag the scroll bar anymore when that error occurs. What works, however, is clicking with the middle button of the mouse and moving the cursor to scroll in the desired direction.

It's bittersweet to know that it's affecting multiple Operating Systems, I'm sorry for your troubles. I unfortunately don't have that option with my magic mouse but it seems like everyone is finding a work around at least. Fingers crossed we all get a solution soon.

This sounds like bug 1801661 which was caused by bug 1794070. A new nightly update should be available soon which fixes this issue. A new nightly version should be published (or published very soon) that fixes this issue. Can you still reproduce the issue after the update? If not I'll close as a duplicate of bug 1801661.

I just ran the update [Nightly 109.0a1 (20221121153827)]. It seems to be working for now but the problem with reporting a fix is that the problem originally spring up sporadically. I'll be using it for the next 30 minutes or so and will let you know if I notice any further problems.

No problem, thank you for your help! I love Nightly and am happy to be a small part of the process.

Scrolling is still working so fingers-crossed, it seems like all is fixed. Thank you everyone for your help [especially (:dlrobertson)].
