Attached file test.html —

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:105.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/105.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Firefox on a desktop with regular (100%) scaling
  2. Open test.html
  3. Open a new tab
  4. Edit one of the shortcuts and enter the URL of test.html.
  5. See that the favicon image size is 96, but it is displayed as 48px.

Actual results:

The icon is displayed as 48x48px, but Firefox chooses the icon size 96x96px.

Expected results:

Since icon size 48 is provided by the ICO, it should have been chosen.

The attached ICO used by test.html has icons labelled with their respective sizes in green text.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core

Note that if 200% display scaling is used in GNOME, the displayed becomes 96x96, which matches the chosen icon.

Severity: -- → S3
