That's an unusual, rather odd visual feedback on hover.

Do it only when focused, as usual. I don't think we have any other
outline on hover and it instantly threw me off as a bug... But let me
know if it's intentional.

Thank you for catching this pesky bug and working on the patch!
I updated the hover styling for date and datetime-local inputs bug 1797383 to clarify that the Calendar button's hover state without HCM would need to look less subtle, so it should be tracked.

Reproduced on Nightly 109.0a1 (Build ID: 20221207094527).
Verified as fixed on the latest Firefox 109 beta (Build ID: 20230109161414) and on the latest Nightly 110.0a1 - tested on macOS 11.7, Ubuntu 20.04, and Windows 10 x64.
