Details
(Keywords: crash, hang)
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:107.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/107.0
Steps to reproduce:
- open two firefox windows, one on pastebin.com, the other displaying a video on twitch.tv
- in the pastebin window, enter several lines of text and position the cursor at the end of the text block
- hold shift+left arrow (to select some of the text)
Other environment details:
- Arch Linux (fully up to date as of this writing)
- RTX 3070 GPU with 525.60 nvidia driver
- gnome 43 on xorg
- firefox hardware acceleration enabled ("use recommended performance settings")
Actual results:
After around 1s of holding shift+left arrow (to select text), all browser windows freeze (completely non-responsive) and audio from the twitch.tv window also stops. In order to recover, the firefox processes must be killed.
If hardware acceleration in firefox is disabled, the crash no longer occurs.
Expected results:
Text selection should not freeze/crash the browser.
