Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:107.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/107.0

Steps to reproduce:

I enabled both jxl related settings in the about:config:

browser.download.viewableInternally.typeWasRegistered.jxl
image.jxl.enabled

and restartet the app

Actual results:

When testing it on this page it falls back to the JPG logo as JXL is not supported:

https://jpegxl.info/

Expected results:

Enabling JXL and telling the website that its allowed

I followed the steps from description on Ubuntu 20.04 using Firefox builds 107.0 (20221110173214) and flatpak build 109.0b2(20221213185929) and the issue seems to reproduce meaning that JPG logo is displayed (With following message "Your browser does not support JPEG XL"). Marking issue as new in order to get developers input on this. Thank you.

jpeg xl is only compiled into the binary on nightly builds. If you aren't using a nightly those prefs will do nothing. I agree that is confusing though.
