I see much higher GPU usage when sitting alone in Google Meet call in Firefox (80%) vs Chrome (27%). It's also higher when someone else is in the call but it's not as dramatic. i.e. 60% vs 40% or something like that.

:jrmuizel, on which device did you check it? I tested on Win11 PCs and MacOS PC, but I did not saw such high GPU usage. Video overlay usage might reduce the GPU usage.

:jrmuizel - Which codec is Google Meet using when you get this higher GPU usage? Is it on an Intel+NVIDIA laptop and if so is NVIDIA enabled or disabled as those can result in very different GPU usage?
It's worth considering that Google Meet may be doing an experiment rollout so a percentage of users would see higher GPU usage from different experiments, so we may need to know a little more about what combination is causing this higher usage before we can make decisions on this.
