Firefox has 3 interfaces for finding a tab:
- the tab bar
- the list of all tabs menu
- tab search in the awesomebar
Would it make sense to merge the last two? It's a bit disorienting to glance at the list of all tabs menu, decide to search and instead get the awesomebar dropdown shown.
The features are also different: the awesomebar shows tabs on other devices, but the dropdown does not.
The awesomebar dropdown shows fewer items than the list of all tabs menu, though maybe it could use all available height when searching for tabs?
Neither the list of all tabs menu nor the awesomebar tab search have close buttons for tabs. Chrome and Safari both allow closing tabs from their "Search tabs" and "Show tab overview" UIs. Being able to close tabs directly from the list of all tabs / tab search UI is more convenient and time efficient than focusing a tab just to close it and then going back to search tabs again.

The close button request is covered by bug 1620199.
More generally, please try to keep bugs focused on one issue.
Either way I guess this needs product/UX folks to weigh in before anything else...
